Christmas event

In the afternoon of 23rd December, when the rain was rattling behind the window and festive atmosphere still had not come since winter was not ready to delight us with white snow plaid, Christmas feeling was created by the association “Autism Support Centre in Rēzekne” – special gratitude to the head of the association – Sandra and mother Marina for warmly and cosily decorated hall. Our hearts were warmed by musical performances of Christmas Musical Union. All participants of this union are current and former students of both Jānis Ivanovs Rēzekne Secondary School of Music and JāzepsVītols Latvian Academy of Music – Ilze Grēvele (vocal), Laura Reksne (vocal), Iluta Igaune (flute), Jānis Igaunis (clarinet), Jana Kuzmenkova (piano), Mārcis Lipskis (bass guitar), Juris Laizāns (percussion instruments). This year, Christmas Musical Union performed with charity concerts in Rēzekne, Ludza and Preiļi and, collecting donations from the listeners of the concert, wanted to help Anastasija Burova who attends actively the events and classes of the association “Autism Support Centre in Rēzekne”. Special thanks to the guitarist who could share own instrument with new musicians.

Both performance “Vecīša cimdiņš” (“Mitten of the old man”) and musical performances prepared by the children demonstrated what the children have acquired during theatre and music classes, and everybody could realize the inexpressible energy and work contributed by director Andris Ušpelis and music teacher Iveta Ķepule.

Santa Claus had prepared sweet presents to the children of the association, thus delighting both the children and adults. Children’s eyes were shining with joy when playing games with parents, as well as with the youth from Rēzekne Red Cross. During common feasting with the treats, we were wallowing in memories of the last year and big and small dreams that were realized collectively, as well as discussed ideas to be realized in 2017.

Special gratitude to the member of the Saeima – Jānis Trupovnieks who, in spite of his busyness, had time to participate in our event and addressed kind words to the parents.

Thanks to the children and their parents who were together with us, participated in classes andshared their positive energy with others.

In conclusion, Ādams’s, Aleksandra’s and Marks’s mother Sarmīte share her impressions: “Like in the previous year, we received invitation from the association “Autism Support Centre in Rēzekne” to participate in Christmas event. And so I together with both sons went for rest, to meet people, to experience memorable moments and to embellish that day. Namely, Ādams preferred to spent time in the class where he could play games, run around, jump and shout together with the children, but meanwhile we had time to listen some lovely songs, greetings and receive sweet presents from Santa Claus. However, Marks enjoyed the event together with friends, participated in games, had a good time, did not forget about the poem and tasted the treats of festive banquet. Many thanks for these moments and we are looking forward to meeting also in next Christmas.”
